John Leslie Spinks died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday 26th October 2002.

He was an exceptional guy who will be missed by most who came in touch with him and a great deal by those who loved him.

At this time there is anger, shock and deep sadness but this will pass in time. This website is a celebration of John - a few photos of the physical John but more importantly the stories, observations and humour that was John, because it was that aspect of him that made him special.

John Spinks was a good friend of mine and I was a lucky guy for that fact. I hope that those of you who knew John will share with visitors to this site exactly what it was that made him special.

People often say that when you die you live on in the memories of others and as long as those memories exist and those people live, then as a result those that have died still live on, I like that thought; it is noble but also a responsibility.

Throughout one's life, one meets a lot of people; some are a little bit more special than the herd and some just crash into the room and once met are never forgotten. I've been lucky in my life and met a lot of good - even great - people but one of those very special ones who I will never forget was John Spinks. I wanted to put on record some of the fun we had and also to encourage others who were exposed to this rude, mischievous imp of a boy, who like me never seemed to get past about 17 years of age, no matter what the passport, job titles or photos said.

I created this site just after John's death and after a request from his family took down the content, which at the time was the least I could do. After all, who wants to read that their newly departed was certifiably insane (yet incredible addictive company)? Now it's eight years on and whilst the emotion has subsided just a little, my memories have not; so the site is back up, hidden under the pen in John's mouth.

I might even trawl my memories for more John Spinks tales; that would be a delight. So you never know; it may grow more - watch this space.

Needless to say, feel free to drop me a line if you have a tale or a photo to share.

Now let me tell you again about Spinksy and the mystery of DAK ...
